Each of the cars appears to feature a unique sound effect for its engine and the sound of objects collapsing sounds fairly good as well.įlatout may not be up there in terms of hype as games such as Gran Turismo 4 but for those who like a bit of off road racing then this is a game that is sure to please. The destructible environments also collapse in a realistic manner. The variety of the levels is looking good as well as is the level design which seems to compliment the physics of the cars featured well. The levels look great and feature a decent draw distance with no popup to be seen. One of the most impressive aspects of the game so far however is the visuals. The tracks are somewhat also open to shortcuts such as taking a risk by jumping over a river. ![]() Pushing other cars into these objects will create some serious carnage. You will also find other hazards throughout each track such as rivers and immovable objects like construction vehicles. We found objects such as a house foundation, fences, barrels and tyres were all movable or destructible. In fact it is said that the game features over three thousand items on each track to smash. Racing on dirt roads is complimented by ice racing and even in urban environments. As mentioned before the tracks feature a variety of destructible objects. The game will ship with forty five different tracks to race on, and from what we saw there will be a great variety offering different challenges to the player. Three views are available, bumper, behind the car and a more panoramic style view and of course this affects the sense of speed the game gives off, but overall that remains quite impressive throughout. The cars feature a somewhat realistic damage model and the damage affects their speed and drive ability. These cars are purely designed for dirt racing so you will find not only rusted old lemons but cars with some serious suspension. The game features sixteen cars all with different attributes in terms of power and weight. Available in both multiplayer and single player, this is sure to become the most popular area of the game and it really sticks out in comparison to the rest of the game. The aim in these two games is to drive as fast as you can before slamming on the break (R1) and aiming the driver either towards bowling pins or the dart board to gain the highest score. The bonus area is setup in one giant stadium and features many famous games such as Ten Pin Bowling and Darts. That by itself is not very impressive but it is the way the developers have used this 'technology' to create some truly unique bonus games. Hit something hard enough, and our hapless driver will fly right through the windscreen and roll along with ragdoll physics. ![]() One of the more unique features of the title is the way the driver reacts to a crash, its enough to give car manufacturers heart attacks. Almost everything you can see is destructible as well and the game sure features a lot of things for you to drive straight through without incurring damage. ![]() You will find jumps, and humps which at high speed can send your car hurtling through the air or into a multiple roll. The tracks are also designed around bashing and crashing your car to bits. The cars feature different handling and power depending on their size and of course the crashes in the higher powered cars are going to be more serious and create more damage at higher speed. The game reminds us of Dirt Track Racing by Ratbag but rather than being a simulation as Ratbag's game tried to be, its more an arcade game with a few realistic features. The time you save on searching for the samples can be used to try out different sounds. You could also get creative without the risk of losing too much time- if a certain sound doesn’t really work, you can swap it with another one effortlessly. You can access your desired sounds in a second and keep the initial spark of a musical idea flowing. Plus, it makes the whole process of making music in the heat of the moment a real joy. You might wonder how time-consuming can it really be to find a sample? But during a long session, saving a couple of seconds on each repetitive task can add up quite a bit. This one seems obvious enough, but If I knew how faster my workflow would be, I would have sorted my samples ages ago. Well-Organized Samples Can Improve Your Workflow Needless to say, those snares sounded amazing, and I have denied myself the pleasure of using them in my productions because they were not in my main sample folder. I would be scrolling through the “downloads” folder looking for some images and stumble upon a kick drum sample pack I have downloaded ages ago and never even opened to hear how they sound. I can’t even remember how many times I’ve found myself accidentally coming across a sample folder on my hard drive that completely changed my approach to writing a track for the better. ![]() While all of it may sound great, you want to eventually expand your sound and make it fresh and exciting for you, as much as for your future clients. You reach for the same tricks, same plugins, and the same samples over and over again. Working as a producer for a while can make you stuck in your ways. ![]() If your diet is missing key vitamins or nutrients, or if you have a diagnosed deficiency, ask your doctor about supplements. Not wild about seafood? Nibble on nuts, legumes or seeds. Grover, M.D., clinical spokesperson for the American Academy of Ophthalmology and an ophthalmologist in Dallas. “Omega-3 supplements have also shown to be helpful,” says Davinder S. There’s also evidence that omega-3 fatty acids - found in salmon, tuna and sardines - can increase oil production, helping to prevent dry eye. ![]() These orange and red veggies are rich in beta-carotene, which the body uses to make vitamin A, which is essential for good vision. Add more color to your plate with carrots, sweet potatoes, butternut squash and red bell peppers. Eggs are another excellent source of lutein and zeaxanthin. Experts suggest these nutrients may block high-energy blue light, which can harm retinal cells, helping to protect vision and prevent the progression of age-related macular degeneration (AMD). They are full of the antioxidants lutein and zeaxanthin. Eat rightĬarrots may get all the press, but it’s those dark-green leafy vegetables (think spinach, kale, collard greens) that are vision-protecting powerhouses. If you’re in contact with airborne materials - by cutting wood, for instance, or mowing grass - consider safety glasses or protective goggles. If you spend a lot of time outdoors, consider wraparound sunglasses that protect from UV rays that can sneak in around the sides of the sunglasses. “A dark lens that does not filter out the UV properly is actually worse than no lens at all,” says Andrea Thau, past president of the American Optometric Association and a New York City-based optometrist, “because that dark tint makes your pupil dilate and invites more UV radiation to enter the eye.” Also, look for glasses that have a uniform tint. Look for sunglasses with a label that says “100 percent protection against both UVA and UVB” or “100 percent protection against UV 400.” Those invisible rays up your chances of getting cataracts, a clouding of the eye lens that typically occurs with aging. Our skin isn’t the only casualty of daily UV exposure. Wear sunglasses with ultraviolet (UV) protection In the U.S., African Americans are at particularly high risk. Still, as ominous as these statistics sound, many vision problems can be treated - and in some cases prevented - by following some simple, healthy habits. By age 80, 1 in 8 people have glaucoma, according to an Australian study. It’s estimated that by age 65, more than 90 percent of people have a cataract and that half of people between ages 75 and 85 have lost some vision due to a cataract. That’s a 150 percent increase over the next 30 years. By the year 2050, an estimated 895 million people worldwide will have developed vision impairment, according to a report in The Lancet.
